Hello, hello fellow bloggers/ readers. I took a break from my computer for a period of time due to a very big move. I just moved to L.A. from Kansas and I am now attending school hear. The first place I lived at did not have internet and I was there for a month so I haven't really been able to do much other than read! So now that I am back I have two book reviews ready to post but I don't think I will do this tonight. I will hopefully do it either tomorrow or sometime this weekend. Yay! Just to give you a heads up about the books.

THE GUARD
So just wanted to share that Kiera Cass is currently working on another novella in The Selection Series! It is called The Guard. It follows life through Aspen's eyes while America is competing for Maxon's attention in the Selection. This novella is set to come out sometime in February I believe. You can buy it in print along with The Prince, or separately as an e-book. This is very exciting and I can't wait for this novella to come out!

The Registry
For today's review, I will be reviewing a book that I finished last night. I started reading it and fell in love and I think that this book is one that a majority of people would enjoy. While searching for a new book to read on my kindle, I was instantly interested in The Registry by Shannon Stoker. Set sometime in the future, The Registry follows Mia Morrissey, a beautiful teenage girl who is eager to be married. In this future, girls are prepped their entire life for The Registry where they are auctioned off as brides to the highest bidder. They are given little formal education but are conditioned to make good wives and mothers. As Mia's eighteenth birthday approaches she becomes even more excited but rethinks when her older sister says it's not all rainbows and butterflies. Her beaten and battered sister gives Mia an extreme warning and she realizes that The Registry could be deadly. After this Mia is determined to not become a bride; she decides to run. With the help of her best friend Whitney and a hansom and blackmailed farm hand named Andrew, she sets out for Mexico. But an unfriendly suitor, who loves a challenge, is out to get them, and Mia is the ultimate prize. As the trio treks across the country they encounter numerous people; some willing to help while others are deadly. Mia is constantly trying to uncover the truth about the Registry and what all the government conceals from them. Through all of this she also finds love, something she wasn't sure was possible. Maybe she will find a partner, but she is determined to make sure it is one of her choosing.
I really enjoyed this book. It was very intense and always left you wondering what happens next. Whenever I put it down I always wanted to pick it back up and keep reading. It has quite a bit of suspense and action; it never got dull. For people who like some action and not a ton of romance, this is the perfect book for you. The romance takes a back seat to the thrill. I also really liked the concept of this dystopia. I can't talk a lot about how the Registry actually works with out giving away too much. You'll just have to take my word for it. :) The one thing that I wasn't crazy about was the fact that I felt like the ending was very rushed. I really like for authors to take their time with the ending of a novel, even if it has a sequel. I need to feel a certain amount of closure at the end of a book. I didn't feel that with this novel. It had a great pace most of it. Stoker took her time with the set up and rising action, I felt the climax was good too but I thought it could of had a lot more of a resolution. There was hardly a resolution at all. There is a sequel coming out at the end of next year, but I really thought that this would be a stand a lone book. It could have been if she carried out the ending and made it a little bit longer, but I felt like the author was ready to end the book so she made it short and very brief. This was really my only main critique. My final comment on the book is that I truly feel that just about anyone could enjoy this story. I think that both adults and teens can enjoy it as well as both men and women. This is a very mature novel aimed at both teens and adults and it has action and suspense as well as romance. This is a quality that I love when I read a book. I enjoy being able to recommend a novel to wide array of people and I feel that I am able to do that with The Registry.

That Boy Series
So here is the review I promised a week ago. Today I will be reviewing That Boy and it's sequel That Wedding by Jillian Dodd.
That Boy is a romance that follows Jayden (JJ) Reynolds and her two neighbors and best friends Danny and Phillip.
Danny is the boy that every girl can't help but have a huge crush on. He is the quarterback of the football team, witty, and very outgoing. Danny is the blonde haired, blue eyed, All-American guy.
Phillip is the boy that Jayden has known her entire life. They boy that she can tell anything to. He kind of wears his heart on his sleeve and is very, very sweet. He has dark hair and is probably equally as good looking as Danny.
Together, the trio of friends grow up. The reader follows Jayden from childhood all the way to her college graduation and Danny and Phillip are always right by her side. As she grows, she must choose between the charming Danny, or the romantic Phillip.
I really loved this book. It was the perfect love triangle; Not only did both of the boys have feeling for Jayden and she for them, but they were also extremely close themselves. It made for an interesting story and through out the book you really wonder who she will end up with. Another thing that I really loved was the fact the not only was it a romance, but it was a coming of age story. The reader really gets to see Jayden and the boys grow up, and see how they change and who they become. One thing that I really loved about this book is that it is almost kind of raw. It seems very real, like it could happen to anyone of us. Jayden is the girl next door and everything that happens to her really could happen to the reader. The story is very sweet and endearing. I recommend this novel to anyone who is a fan of Nicholas Sparks.

Jayden's story continues with the sequel That Wedding. She was finally able to follow her heart and realize who her true Prince Charming is: Phillip. After a VERY brief romantic relationship, they get engaged. At the beginning Jayden couldn't be happier. But the stress of the wedding begins to take a toll on her, especially when she finds out she only has about three months to pull it off! With the time flying by, a pastor that seems hell bent on breaking them up, and wondering if she'll ever find the right dress, forever is starting to seem like a very long time to Jayden. This book follows Jayden as she prepares for the long trek down the aisle, and the entire time the reader is wondering if she'll ever really make it there.
I loved this book, possibly more than the first. Again, it is very endearing and heart warming and seems so incredibly natural. It is quite romantic and will leave any girl wanting to plan her wedding! I'm not going to lie, the entire book is a little bit of an emotional roller coaster due to all of Jayden's crazy pre-wedding emotions and cold feet. Even through all of this, the story is very cute and comical but does have just the right amount of serious moments. If you're looking for a very sweet summer read I definitely recommend this series!

That Baby is third, and I think final book in this series. It was set to come out later this year but I recently learned that it was pushed back to July of 2014. Bummer, I know! I'll try and keep you posted if I find out anything else. This series is a little bit harder to find much info on cause it's not very popular yet. I'll look for some sneak peaks!

LUNAR CHRONICLES: Cress Sneak Peak!

CRESS SNEAK PEEK HAS ARRIVED!
I was so excited when I found out yesterday that Marissa Meyer would be releasing the first chapter of Cress today. I have already read it, and it was FABULOUS! I know that in my review of Scarlet I said that I had a hard time getting attached to the character of Scarlet and I was really afraid that it would be the same way with the new heroines in the last two books. Well I am glad to say that it isn't...at least for me. I was already falling in love with Cress. The chapter is great and really left me dying to know more. Here is the URL to Marissa's website. If you absolutely loved The Selection and The Elite by Kiera Cass, than keep your eyes open for the third and I believe final novel in the series, The One. The release date is set for May 6th, 2014. I know! It's almost a year away! Too long for me to wait! Well if you can't get enough try reading The Prince: a Selection Novella by Kiera Cass. This is a prequel novella to the first book. It's about Maxon and another girl that caught his eye before the Selection even happened. It's a great short read! If you want to know about any major Selection Series events, then stay tuned to my blog! I follow all major series that I blog about. I will definitely be reading The One as soon as it comes out and reviewing it.

The Selection Series
Today I will be doing another review on a popular YA series. It was passed up for a show on the CW and is pretty popular for avid readers, but I don't think many people in the general public know much about it yet. The series I am referring to is the Selection Series by Kiera Cass. Set in a dystopia where North America is ruled by a monarchy and has a very strict caste system, the first book, The Selection, tells the story of the how the prince of Illea decides his bride. When hansom prince Maxon comes of age and is ready to marry, all girls between 16 and 20 are allowed to enter their name in a "lottery" in the hopes of being chosen to live at the palace along with 34 other women to compete for not only Maxon's heart but also the crown. It's what seemingly every woman dreams of. Not America Singer. America is perfectly content in her caste, even though it may be one of the lowest, she believes she has everything she needs. She enjoys her work as a performer, she has a very caring family, and she is madly in love with her boyfriend, Aspen. She receives pressure from her family and from Aspen, claiming he wants a better life for her, but she refuses to enter her name. However, when her mother bribes her to enter, America finally agrees. Never in a million years did she think she would be selected but when she finds out that she is America knows her life will change forever. After being forced to go to the palace, America finds close friends in the competition as well as fierce enemies. She is determined to not fall in love with Maxon so she may return home and live as normally as possible, but she finds herself drawn to him and him to her, and soon she finds that it may be impossible not to fall for him. Normal will never again be an option. America thinks she knows the path she wants to take even though it strays far from comfort, but she again changes her mind when Aspen suddenly reenters her life. America must choose which course she wants to take; royalty or the simple life.
I loved this book. It had a lot of intrigue and it was very easy to get into. I don't like it when books are slow at the beginning. If it's good but too boring at first, I may not stick around to get to the good stuff. The Selection was definitely not one of those books. From the moment I started, I couldn't put it down and I ended up reading it in one day. This book is labeled as a dystopian novel, but it isn't as science fictiony as other dystopian novels. It is very much a romance though. I recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of The Bachelor. It is very much like that but I don't think it is as cheesy. :) This is where I dislike the book. If you don't like reality television, you probably won't like it. I think that this novel is kind of narrowed for the feminine likes and I usually like to read a book and be able to tell both guys and girls that I think they would like it. Most guys probably wouldn't like this novel. Sorry guys, it's pretty girly! Saying that, I do think that most teenage girls would enjoy this book! Anyone who's a fan of Twilight and a good ole love triangle would enjoy The Selection. It has a really good pace and will leave you dying to know what happens to America, Maxon, and Aspen.

America returns in the second Selection Series novel, The Elite by Kiera Cass. The Selection is still under way in the second novel, as Maxon has narrowed the girls down to his final six choices for future brides. They are called the Elite. America is as confused as ever about her love life. She has deep feelings toward Maxon and she knows he can give her anything and provide for her, but her and Aspen's passion is always at the back of her mind. With the Selection beginning to come to a close, the Elite are put through princessly challenges to see who is well equipped for the job. Maxon is madly in love with America but she believes she is not fit for the role of Princess of Illea. As if this wasn't enough stress, the competition between the girls is heating up. There is tremendous rivalry. With the king and queen watching them, as well as Maxon, the girls must be at their best at all times, but America finds it hard to play by the rules, especially with Aspen much too close to her, physically and emotionally. In the end she has to decide if she can handle all that comes with being a princess, or loose Maxon all together. Maybe it's not such a bad thing if Aspen is there to catch her.
Cass did a wonderful job with this novel and it was just as entertaining as the first, if not more. Again it had a nice pace and it was so thrilling that I couldn't stop reading. I read this book in one day as well. I do have a couple of things that I had problems with. As in the first book, it's really girly. Most guys aren't going to like this novel. My only other critique is that it's really up and down and it totally plays with the readers emotions. I both liked and disliked that. It does make the book pretty unpredictable which I like but don't read this if you just got out of a break up. One chapter you like Maxon and then the next you hate him. Same goes for Aspen. It's a total rollercoaster. I do like how unpredictable it is. I think I might have a pretty good idea as to who America ends up with but I guess I just have to wait until the third book comes out to see if I am correct.
